My ALS Journey (19/n): The Never Ending Story
Today, I present a sad story, and I can only take it by humor.
>> My ALS Journey so far <<
My Electrical Wheelchair
I need an electric wheelchair badly. This wheelchair should also support standing and sleeping. With this wheelchair, I can move inside and outside my flat and visit friends, things I could not do in the last year. We only used once a special taxi but a short trip of about 30 kilometers costs more than €300.
Beatrix went to the neurologist to get the appropriate prescription. Additionally, we recorded a video using the electric wheelchair together with the manufacturer in February 2024 to document my needs.
The electric wheelchair was finally approved in September and should be ready by calendar week 44 (end October 2024).
In the meantime, the delivery of the electrical wheelchair was promised at least five times. Beatrix calls the manufacturer weekly, but the manufacturer provides no insight when arguing about internal issues and data protection.
Is this the end? No! We should get our wheelchair in the first January week of 2025. The orthopedic house already has the invoice but not the electrical wheelchair. Maybe they delivered it to the wrong address.
I hope I can independently gear the wheelchair when I finally get it. When I ordered it, I could do it with a joystick, but now, I probably need eye tracking.
