Dear readers,
Yesterday, October 6, marked one year since Rainer passed away. Today, we want to look ahead, and share with you what comes next for this blog.
Many of you knew Rainer through this blog, his books, his trainings, or his talks. Many of you also followed his ALS journey, which he shared here with the same openness he brought to everything else. On behalf of our family: Thank you for the messages, the memories, and the support you have shown us over this past year.

Rainer Grimm
We took a lot of time to decide whether this blog should continue, and we talked with many of Rainer’s longtime friends and colleagues. C++ was a cornerstone of Rainer’s life. Sharing knowledge freely with the community he cared so deeply about was what drove him. So we decided that this blog should remain what it has always been: A place for free, high-quality knowledge about C++.
In times of AI, when every answer seems to be just a prompt away, we expected blogs to lose relevance. To our surprise, the opposite is true. The more than 700 articles here are still read every day, by people directly and through AI tools that reference and link to them.
To keep the quality Rainer stood for, we are working with a collective of authors: longtime friends and colleagues who share his passion for C++. Some names you will recognize, others you will get to know.
